The rules for using Sequel, in brief

These Sequel terms and conditions explain the dating app terms of use for every member. In short: be an adult who meets the eligibility requirements, be honest in your profile, communicate respectfully, never ask for or send money, and report anything that concerns you. The full terms follow below, and they apply whenever you visit our website, register or use Sequel.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms & Conditions form an agreement between you and Silverpath Media LLC (“Sequel”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account, registering or otherwise using Sequel, you confirm that you have read these terms and agree to be bound by them.

These terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how personal information is handled, and our Cookie Policy, which explains how cookies and similar technologies may be used. If you do not agree with any part of these documents, please do not register or continue to use the service.

2. Eligibility

Sequel is a members-only dating community designed for adults over 50. There is no upper age limit. To use Sequel you confirm that:

  • you are a legal adult in the place where you live, and in any case at least 18 years of age;
  • you are joining as part of Sequel’s community for adults over 50;
  • you are registering for yourself, and you hold only one account;
  • you have not previously been removed from Sequel for breaching these terms; and
  • you are legally able to enter into an agreement and are not prohibited from using the service under any applicable law.

Sequel is not intended for anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has registered, we may remove the account.

3. Your account and profile

A trustworthy community depends on honest members. When you create and maintain your account, you agree to the following.

Accurate information

  • Provide truthful details about yourself, including your age, location and identity.
  • Use photos that are recent and show you. Do not use images of other people, artwork, or images that are generated or altered to misrepresent you.
  • Keep your profile up to date as your circumstances change.

Honest self-expression

Profile content such as your relationship intent and your answers to prompts like Little Joys should reflect you honestly. If you are looking for companionship or friendship rather than romance, say so. Being clear about what you want helps everyone use their time well.

Account security

You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity that takes place through your account. Please tell us promptly if you believe someone has used your account without permission. Do not share your account or allow another person to use it.

4. Respectful communication

Sequel is built for thoughtful conversation. Every member is expected to treat others with courtesy, consent and respect for personal boundaries. In particular, you agree that you will:

  • respond politely, and accept it gracefully when someone does not wish to continue a conversation;
  • stop contacting a member who asks you to stop;
  • respect other people’s privacy and not share their personal information or messages without their permission; and
  • never harass, threaten, demean or discriminate against anyone on the basis of age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sexual orientation or any other personal characteristic.

Unsolicited explicit messages or images are not acceptable on Sequel.

5. Prohibited content and activity

You may not use Sequel to post, send or engage in any of the following:

  • fake, impersonated, misleading or duplicate profiles;
  • AI-generated profiles, synthetic avatars or other synthetic content presented as a real person;
  • fraud, deception, or any request for money, gift cards, payment details or financial account information;
  • commercial promotion, advertising, solicitation or recruitment of any kind;
  • content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, violent or sexually explicit, or that infringes the rights of others;
  • malicious software, or any attempt to interfere with the security or operation of the service; and
  • scraping, data harvesting or any other automated access to the service or to member information.

Sequel states that it takes a zero-tolerance approach to fake profiles, and that this covers synthetic content of any kind. Accounts found to breach this section may be removed permanently.

6. Moderation, verification and reporting

Sequel describes its approach to community safety as follows:

  • a verification process that includes human review of profiles;
  • an anti-fraud engine that Sequel states analyzes registration patterns in real time, with accounts that look suspicious sent to a moderation specialist;
  • moderation that Sequel states runs around the clock; and
  • an in-app reporting tool, with reports reviewed by a dedicated moderation specialist.

We may review, restrict, edit or remove content, and suspend or close accounts, where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or that members may be at risk. Please report anything that does not feel right using the in-app reporting tool.

These measures are intended to reduce risk, but they cannot eliminate it. Sequel does not guarantee that every profile is genuine, that every member will behave appropriately, or that harmful activity will always be detected. Please continue to use your own judgment when interacting with others.

7. Scam awareness: never send money

Never send money, gift cards, payment details or financial account information to someone you have met online, however well you feel you know them.

Sequel’s own guidance describes requests for money as one of the most common romance scam patterns affecting adults over 50. Be cautious if someone describes a sudden emergency, asks you to keep the relationship secret, or urges you to move the conversation away from Sequel. If a match asks for money, requests gift cards or behaves suspiciously, report them immediately using the in-app reporting tool.

Sequel will never be responsible for money or goods you choose to send to another member. If you believe you have been the victim of fraud, please also contact your bank and the relevant authorities in your area.

8. Intellectual property and your content

The Sequel name, logo, design, text, software and other materials that make up the service belong to Silverpath Media LLC or its licensors. You may not copy, modify, distribute or create derivative works from them without our written permission.

You keep ownership of the photos, text and other content you submit to your profile. By submitting content, you grant Sequel a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display and process it for the purpose of operating, maintaining and improving the service. This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except where content has been shared with others or where we are required to keep it by law.

You confirm that you have the right to share the content you upload and that doing so does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

Sequel is provided “as is” and “as available”. We work to provide a dependable service, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free or free from harmful content.

In particular, Sequel does not guarantee:

  • that you will find a match, a partner, a companion or a friend;
  • the identity, intentions, honesty or conduct of any member, whether online or in person; or
  • that any safety, verification or moderation measure will prevent every incident.

You are responsible for your own decisions about whom to talk to and whether to meet in person. When you meet someone, consider choosing a public place and letting a friend or relative know your plans.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sequel and Silverpath Media LLC are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss arising from your interactions with other members. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence where the law does not permit such limits.

Any paid features will be described at the point of purchase.

10. Suspension and termination

You may stop using Sequel and close your account at any time. If you would like help with this, contact us using the details in section 13.

We may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have breached these terms, put other members at risk, or used the service in a way that is unlawful or harmful. Where appropriate and practical, we will explain our reasons.

When an account is closed, your right to use the service ends. Sections of these terms that by their nature should continue to apply, such as those covering intellectual property, disclaimers and governing law, will remain in effect. How we handle your information after closure is described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising from them or from your use of Sequel, are governed by the laws of [Governing jurisdiction]. The courts of [Governing jurisdiction] will have jurisdiction over such disputes, subject to any mandatory consumer rights you may have under the law where you live.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the service, to our practices or to the law. When we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, give additional notice.

By continuing to use Sequel after updated terms take effect, you accept the changes. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the service and close your account.

13. Contact

If you have questions about these Terms & Conditions, or want to raise a concern, please contact Silverpath Media LLC at [email protected]. You can also learn more about the service on the Sequel home page.
