This Privacy Policy applies to everyone who visits the Sequel website or uses the Sequel dating app, whether you are browsing, registering or already a member. It describes how Silverpath Media LLC (“Sequel”, “we”, “us”) handles personal information in connection with our services.

Sequel is a curated, members-only dating community for adults over 50, with no upper age limit. Because dating involves personal and sometimes sensitive information, we have tried to write this policy in plain language.

• Your answers to Little Joys prompts and similar profile questions
• Photos you upload to your profile
• Messages you send to other members and any messages you send to us

Sharing optional profile details is your choice. Some information, however, is required to create an account and to confirm that Sequel is right for you.

Information collected automatically

When you use the website or app, we may automatically receive technical information, including:

• Device and browser type, operating system and language settings
• Log data, such as IP address, access times and pages or screens viewed
• Usage data, such as the features you use and how you interact with them

Information from verification and safety reviews

Sequel states that its approach to community safety includes verification steps with human review of profiles, and a reporting tool that members can use. As part of these processes we may handle information needed to review a profile or a report, such as the content of a report, related messages and the outcome of a review. We use this information only for safety and integrity purposes.

How we use information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

• Providing the service: creating and managing your account, hosting your profile and enabling messaging between members.
• Showing profiles to members: presenting your profile to other members according to your settings and relationship intent.
• Search and local discovery: helping you and other members find like-minded people through search parameters and nearby discovery.
• Moderation and fraud prevention: reviewing reports, identifying suspicious behavior and acting against fake profiles, scams or abusive conduct.
• Support: responding to questions, requests and complaints.

Sequel presents itself as a private, members-only community, and its stated approach is that a member’s profile is not visible to non-members. In practice, that means the profile information you choose to share is shown to other members of Sequel, not to the general public. Please remember that other members can see what you post, so share only what you are comfortable with.

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: companies that help us operate Sequel, such as hosting, technical support or moderation assistance. They may process information only on our behalf, under contract, and for the purposes we specify.
• Legal requests: where we believe disclosure is required by law, court order or a valid request from a public authority, or is necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of members, Sequel or others.
• Business transfers: if Sequel is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy’s commitments.
• With your direction: where you ask us to share information or give your consent.

Data security

Sequel states that it uses TLS encryption to protect data in transit between your device and our services. We also aim to limit access to personal information and to apply moderation practices that help detect misuse of the platform.

Data retention

You also control how much you share. You can leave optional profile fields blank, choose which photos to upload and decide who you start a conversation with, at your own pace.

Adults only

Sequel is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. Our community is designed for adults over 50.

If we learn that we have collected information from someone under 18, we will take steps to close the account and delete the information. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please tell us at [email protected].

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when our services or legal requirements change. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change is significant, we will take reasonable steps to let members know, such as a notice on the website or in the app.
